Bartending
Schools FAQ's
Q:
Why Do I Need to go to Bartending School?
A: Before there were bartending schools a
person might start as a bus person, wait
staff, food runner, or even a dishwasher.
When you finally became a bartender often
you would lack the skills to be really good.
Simply put, many establishments just don’t
have the time to train you. By taking our
course, you will have the skills and
confidence to step behind any bar and make
money right away. On-line courses and
college classes do NOT give you the hands-on
training that you need to be successful.
Q: I do not know anything about alcohol
or drinks. Will I fall behind in the
classes?
A: Most students start with very little
knowledge of bartending. Our classes are
broken down into 14 separate lessons that
make it easy to follow the instruction. Our
instructors make learning easy and fun. By
the time your course is over you will have
the speed and knowledge to work in any
environment. If you feel you need additional
practice, just come in whenever one of our
campus locations is open.
Q: Is there much demand for bartenders
today?
A: Bartending job openings range from region
to region. On the West Coast, in the Rocky
Mountains and the Desert Southwest, there
exists a very strong demand for bartenders.
This is largely due to a strong hospitality
industry in such places as Denver, Phoenix,
Tucson, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Tahoe and other destinations.
Let's face it: as long as people want to go
out and drink, there will be a demand for
bartenders.
Q: I have a full-time job. Will someone
still hire me if I can only work part time?
A: Most bartenders work part time. Many have
a full or part time job doing other things.
However, some people find that they do well
enough financially bartending that they make
it their full time job.
Q: How old do I have to be to be a
bartender?
A: The legal age to tend bar varies by
state. See our page with information about
the legal Bartending Age in your state.
Q: Will I learn all that I need to know
about bartending?
A: Not only will we teach you how to mix
drinks, but you will learn about customer
service, bar set-ups, equipment, Flair
bartending and everything else you need to
know to become a successful bartender.
Q: How many drinks will I learn to mix?
A: We break up the lessons into 14
"bite-sized" sections. During these sessions
you will learn how to mix about 200 drinks.
Do NOT let this number intimidate you. We
make learning easy and fun!
Q: OK. I complete the course. Can you
help me with Job Placement?
A: Once you've completed your training
we offer local and nationwide job placement
assistance to all of our graduates. We work
for you to get your foot in the door for
interviews by working with a wide variety of
establishments that fit your needs.
Graduates of Bartending College USA courses
typically are successful in finding jobs
within 30 days after completing our course.
Please call us if you encounter difficulty
in this process. We will discuss your
approach and offer additional tips and
possible leads to available jobs in your
